New Newsletter Published January 2010         ----  Click Here to see this Month's Birthday's   We've changed our scheduled 1st mixer to 9PM at every dance.  This way those of you who are coming out of your comfort zone, will get the opportunity to dance with others much earlier.   This is another awesome thing for everyone who participates, each class taught, the instructor will be having a small jam-like ending to their classes so everyone gets to dance with the Special Guest Instructors.  Cristina Weaver of Dance Moves will be teaching both the Rumba and Salsa every Friday and Pable Repun will be teaching Tango at our  for our monthly dance on Saturday Feb 30th at the German American Club. Teacher's Bios  Dance Moves - Cristina Weaver   Cristina Weaver has been teaching and dancing Ballroom for 10 years and still continues to love what she does!  She wasn't always a dancer while growing up. Cristina was into theater and film. But when she turned 16 there was an Arthur Murray Dance Studio a block away from her house and had to learn how to dance BALLROOM. She fell in love with it instantly. Her goal was to become an instructor for Arthur Murray and made it happen when she moved to Miami after High School. The day Cristina was supposed to go to college was the day she went for my interview with Arthur Murray in Coral Gables. Cristina began training immediately and before she knew it she had been at that studio for five years competing with her very own students and also getting ready to compete professionally. After instructing at the Coral Gables location, Cristina was given the opportunity to be Dance Director, Supervisor, and then Manager of the Arthur Murray of Sunrise.  At that location she continued teaching and competing with her students and also had the chance to compete professionally in American Smooth.  During the past 10 years, she has become a certified ballroom dance instructor and continues dance training daily. She presently teaches Ballroom Dancing throughout Broward County.

Every Friday at Dance Moves -

The SFSDS 2009 Dance Pledge: To put together a new dance program to help our dance friends find their comfort zone and “Just Dance.”  To enable the dance community to meet new friends and to improve their skills with our weekly lessons and open dance.   By the end of each month everyone who participates in the lessons will be able to get on the dance floor and dance their basics.  The syllabus being applied will give all our members and guests a chance to participate and broaden their dance horizons.   This has been initiated each Friday Night at Dance Moves. Each month will be a different dance to help all the dancers in the community “Just Dance.” In the the second ballroom will be WCS. 

 

Video Notebooks have been created so that you won't forget everything that you just learned. These may be purchased at our dances or by contacting our Membership Director.

Club Dance Information: Friday Dances: Lesson at 7:30 PM, open dancing 8:30 PM to 12:30 AM. Beginning and advanced lessons are included with paid admission. Our dances are $10.00 for members; $15.00 non-members. SFSDS will honor memberships to other Swing Clubs, show your current membership card and pay the member price at SFSDS monthly dance.

Commercial Blvd, 2nd Floor, Lauderdale by the Sea (954) 566-9779.  From I-95, take Commercial Blvd East towards the Ocean, continue over the Inter Coastal Bridge and look for the Qwik Stop on the SE corner of Seagrape - (1) block before State Route A-1-A.  Parking is available across the street at the SunTrust Bank and behind the adjacent building.
